La Parguera Bio Bay Boat Tour
Illuminate the Night at Bio Bay
A small fishing village that has recently grown in popularity with tourists, La Parguera is a Puerto Rican gem located in the island’s southwest region. With lush mountain views and a gorgeous coastline, there is a distinct topographical change when visitors drive from San Juan towards Lajas.
Upon arrival, our tour group will stop for dinner at one of the town’s local restaurants. After eating, we’ll head out on a boat and cruise for about 20 minutes. This portion of the tour is a great way to observe the floating homes located in the area. The first stop will be at a cay, where you’ll be able to swim in pristine waters and watch the sunset (during the summer months).
Once nightfall hits, the tour group will move to a spot where the evening’s bioluminescent show is set to begin. Your bilingual guides will explain the fragile ecology of Bio Bay, provide interpretations of stars, and lead guests to portions of the bay where the concentration of bioluminescence is highest. Finish your tour with an easy swim around Bio Bay.

Bespoke Lifestyle Management offers roundtrip transportation from select areas in San Juan. Depending on where you are located, we might be able to provide transportation as well. Exact pick-up times and locations will be confirmed the day prior to your tour.
Please note
- This tour requires a minimum of 4 participants in order to operate. It is likely the tour will be canceled if enough people haven’t registered 24 to 48 hours before the scheduled departure time.
- All tours depart from San Juan. Including transportation time and lunch stops, guests should allow up to 8.5 hours for the entire experience (2.5 hours of combined drive time, 2 hours at Bio Bay, and 1 hour for appetizers).
- Bio Bay can be unpredictable when it comes to bioluminosity. Since it is a natural phenomenon, levels of bioluminescence vary from day to day. Phases of the moon may affect visibility.
Safety Requirements and Limitations
- Children must weigh at least 50 pounds in order to participate. Bespoke Lifestyle Management must be notified in advance of the tour if children will need car seats. Car seats are complimentary, but subject to availability.
- This tour is not suitable for persons who struggle with mobility issues, use a wheelchair, or rely on a cane/walker. All participants must be able to climb into the boat from a narrow pier on their own. If you get in the water to swim, you also must be physically able to climb a small boat ladder.
