Join Bespoke Lifestyle Management on an exclusive half-day tour of the El Yunque National Rainforest. One of the oldest forest reserves in the Western Hemisphere and the only tropical rainforest inside the U.S. National Forest System, El Yunque is a veritable treasure trove of Puerto Rican flora and fauna.
Your tour starts with a leisurely drive through nearby towns to the trailhead. Once on the path, your guide will provide live commentary about the tree orchids, giant ferns, bamboo trees, wild flowers, tropical hardwoods, and spectacular waterfalls that make up life in El Yunque. Smell the distinctive fragrance of tropical flowers and fresh ginger. As you walk, you’ll quickly realize why this area has been considered a tropical paradise and sacred to the indigenous Taino group for centuries.
During your excursion, you’ll make several stops along El Yunque’s forest corridor, including at:
- El Portal Visitor Center: Learn more about the 28,000 contiguous acres of rainforest that is home to over 240 species of plants and animals. The Center also features several interactive displays and a paved short trail.
- La Coca Waterfall: This 85-foot (26 meter) waterfall appears seemingly out of nowhere to drop into a massive rock formation. This is a great spot for pictures!
Yokahú Observation Tower:
This 69 feet (21 meter) spiral tower offers some of the most unobstructed views of the rainforest. If you’re brave enough to climb to the top, you’ll be 1,500 feet (457 meters) above sea level. This is also a great place to relax and revel in your El Yunque visit before heading back to San Juan.
Meeting Location
- Bespoke Lifestyle Management offers roundtrip transportation from select areas in San Juan. Depending on where you are located, we might be able to provide transportation as well. Exact pick-up times and locations will be confirmed the day prior to your tour.
Please Note
- Low-impact activity, suitable for most people
- Please eat a good breakfast before pick up. We will not be stopping for meals at any point during the tour.
- Children must have a purchased ticket, regardless of age.
- If you are traveling with children under the age of six, a booster/car seat is required. Please notify Bespoke Lifestyle Management of this when you make your reservation. You may bring your own car seat or request one from our team. We can provide them as part of your tour, but they are subject to availability.
- Depending on how quickly the group travels and other tour schedules, there might be time to swim in the river. It’s up to you whether you want to bring a bathing suit in the event that we do have time to stop. Please note that this stop is not guaranteed.
- A minimum of eight persons are required to operate the tour. If this minimum is not met, there is a possibility that the tour will be canceled. In these cases, you will be offered an alternative tour date or a full refund.
- The El Yunque National Forest Half-Day Tour is administered by Bespoke Lifestyle Management, which operates under special-use permit 4024-03 on the El Yunque National Forest. This organization also operates on a non-discriminatory basis.
- Cruise ship passengers must provide ship name, docking time, disembarkation time, and re-boarding time at the time of booking. Refunds will not be issued for late arrivals or missed tours.
