Travel through mystical mangrove channels that lead to ‘Laguna Grande.’ At the Laguna, you’ll meet our glowing friends: the Pyrodinium Bahamense, otherwise known as microscopic plankton capable of producing natural light (like fireflies) at the mere touch of your hand! This Bio Bay experience will also allow you to learn about the reserve’s fragile ecosystem, explore by kayak in a safe and enclosed environment, and interact with the amazing native plankton. 

As one of Puerto Rico’s most popular adventures, there are four important points to keep in mind before booking your kayaking excursion.

• In order to get the best visuals for the bioluminescence, all tours occur around sunset or in the early evening. Because of this timing, it can get quite dark in the canal. If you are afraid of darkness, a first-time kayaker, or have small kids, we strongly recommend booking our earlier day-time tour instead. This tour makes it easier to see where you’re going and helps sharpen kayaking skills.
• The maximum weight is 230 lbs per person. Please make sure that all guests in your party are providing their exact weight when booking.
• Because this tour is so popular, it’s not uncommon for Bio Bay to get crowded with other visitors. You might meet up with other groups waiting to access the canal that flows into the lagoon. Sometimes this amount of kayakers means bumping into others along the way. Depending on how crowded the waters are, Bespoke Lifestyle Management will provide extra guides for your safety.
